My photographs are an exploration of mass and movement through space and time, asking the question, do places change people or vice versa? My most recent works are constructed narratives of ritual behaviour set against a backdrop of Everton and Liverpool football clubs and most recently, football grounds across the country.
By taking a succession of frames over a period of time, I am able to construct
an alternative representation of the physical and emotional experiences of
the subject. I present these new realities in large scale photographs that
begin to reveal the minutiae of ritual within crowd behaviour alongside newly
formed narratives and relationships between people and place.
I am interested in the emotionally intense, optimistic uncertainty shared
by thousands of individuals and the way this shapes itself physically. How
does the emotional and physical movement of people impact on space and time?
Does the movement of crowds of people generate kinetic energy and can this
be reinterpreted visually?
